What is SCOOP?
Conflict sensitive journalism is one of the most challenging issues a journalist encounters. Conflict sensitive journalists choose their words carefully. They take no sides, but are engaged in the search for solutions. SCOOP – Student Conference for University Press – offers young journalists students a glimpse into some of the most complicated issues of conflict sensitive journalism, while creating an unforgettable experience and gathering professional information relevant for their future careers as reporters.
When does the SCOOP Israel conference take place?
The conference takes place between August 17-21, 2014. The conference will start on August 17th (Sun), meeting point at Ben Gurion University of the Negev (Be’er-Sheva), through August 21st (Thu), farewell point at Tel-Aviv.
Who can apply?
SCOOP Israel is looking for prominent university students with a strong passion for journalism, who are:
Involved with your campus newspaper
Aim to be involved in the field of journalism in the future
Have at least one more year left before completing his/her degree
Have a real interest for political journalism
Have a good level of English

We’re a group of students and graduates from Ben Gurion University of the Negev, StandWithUs Fellowship alumni, who believe that when it comes to media coverage of conflicts, it’s very important to create a balanced and professional picture.
